Obituary

Michael Deegan, 65, of Queens, New York, passed away in his home after a battle with cancer on April 14, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn in 1959 to John and Lucy Deegan. From a Young age, Mike was involved in many sports. He became quite the ball player, and many continue to look back on his talents in baseball to this day. He continued to play well into his adulthood, never ceasing to amaze those who watched him. Not only was Mike a great player but extremely knowledgeable about all sports. Friends and strangers alike could talk to him for hours about players, stats, records, and the game in general. Mike also enjoyed watching horse racing and spent many days at Saratoga or Aqueduct. Although many may not have known due to his stubborn nature, Mike had a great sense of humor. He could make you laugh like no other or drive you crazy with an argument. In the past year, Mike enjoyed sitting outside on sunny days, listening to classic rock, and naming the birds who surrounded him. He was usually accompanied by his grandpup, Gambit, and they became best friends. One thing was always for certain, the love he had for his family and friends. He was a quiet man at the gathering but would do anything to help you. Michael was preceded in death by both parents, John and Lucy, brother, John, sister-in-law, Caroline, and great nephew, Derek. He is survived by his wife Vicki, daughter Denise (Zane), sister Michele (Michael), brother Frank (Lisa), many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and lifelong friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Bridging Life. 200 Memorial Avenue Westminster, MD, 21157
